Just getting a visitor to your site is enough work all by itself so once you get them there why not capitalize on it as much as possible? If they have come to your site chances are quite good they are at least somewhat interested in what you have to say, if you provide your visitors a quick and easy link to content that is directly related to what brought them there in the first place there is a very good chance they will click one more link and go one page deeper into your site.
Each page view that you get from a new reader increases the likelihood of converting them into a repeat visitor tremendously, you need to take advantage of all the tools and resources that are available to you, one of these resources and quite likely the best resource that you have is your own content, if you consistently write quality content people will want to read it and they will come back for more.
I personally use a plugin called YARPP (yet another related posts plugin) which I find to be very effective at doing what it’s supposed to, which is showing a list of related posts at the end of each of my posts. Another benefit of this comes from your RSS feed as well, when your readers get your posts emailed to them, it too will have links to related posts included at the end which will give them that many more chances to find something of interest that will bring them to your site.
It’s simple mathematics and should not be overlooked, as more and more blogs are created its becoming more critical to set yourself apart from the crowd, giving your visitors a reason and a easy means to come back for more is your best first line offense.
